This pool is solely for our guests. It’s a space where you can relax in the sun and enjoy the surroundings.

The garden

The property up to the borders including the buildings and the swimming pool area 5,433.00 sq m

The garden, with its large lawn is full of flowers, and on various levels. There’s also a mixed woodland, dominated by an oak tree which overlooks the valley. Then you can take a walk through an orchard of apple, plum, cherry and pomegranate trees and admire the countryside. A time to reflect and appreciate nature.

The sauna

Relax and forget the stresses of everyday life in our sauna. Afterwards, enjoy a ‘Scottish Shower’ – a hot shower, followed by a cold one! You’ll be rejuvinated!! Then, relax on one of our comfortable beds and enjoy a cup of herbal tea.

MATERIALS

In the sympathic restoration of Relais Chiarene, we have used original, natural and recycled materials, using what we’ve had on site and what we’ve sourced locally.

Almost all the rooms in the Relais have parquet floors. This wood has extrordinary features – it’s light, hardwearing, has soundproofing qualities, and adds to the warmth of the rooms.

All the foundations of what was once the ancient structure have been reinforced and insulated with natural materials such as hemp, in full respect of the built and pursuing our desire to keep intact the original volumes and forms.

Hemp is a plant that grows without the use of fertilizers and is endowed with extraordinary properties such as strength and resistance.
The use in buildings offers great advantages in terms of energy savings and has a very low environmental impact.

We then chose to cover the hemp with plasters based on natural lime, an excellent natural insulator, used since ancient times to reduce heat loss and maintain a constant temperature.

In maintaining our commitment to the environment we have chosen to provide photovoltaic panels for the production of electricity for the entire structure.

THE COURTYARD

In Relais Chiarene’s courtyard stands a large olive tree. It’s not a tree native to Piedmont, it’s home being in Tuscany, but its significance of peace, friendship and magical properties, underpins our welcome to you.
